Pierre Beaumarchais’ comedy, staged by Mark Zakharov, is a vibrant, dynamic performance in which the satire and sparkling humour of the legendary play have acquired a new resonance.
The action unfolds over the course of one frantic day in the castle of Count Almaviva. Figaro, a clever and cheerful servant, whose own wedding to the charming Susanna is threatened by their master’s secret desires. The count’s whim, jealousy, secret meetings, brilliant disguises, and witty dialogues — all of this is woven into a tangle of intrigues in a matter of hours. Thanks to Mark Zakharov’s famous directorial style, the story of the cunning Figaro turns into an elegant and witty theatrical performance.
The play is dedicated to one of Mark Zakharov’s leading actors, Andrei Mironov, who played the role of Figaro on the stage of the Satire Theatre. The «Lenkoma» performance is a tribute to the outstanding actor of Russian theater and cinema.
