Elena is in love with Demetrius, Demetrius is in love with Hermia, and Hermia is in love with Lysander. However, it’s mutual. At night, the young people escape away from the Athenian law and parental advice to the ducal forest, where they will be completely entangled (and untangled!) under the spell of the elf king Oberon and his absent-minded assistant Robin.
The whole game here is theatrical, loving, sometimes a little naive, sometimes complicated and confusing. It can be acute, even dangerous — it’s better to watch such a game from the outside, without interfering. It can be childishly simple — you get involved in it willingly or unwittingly. But all of her in this performance is incredibly vital, incredibly adventurous. In the chaos of the game, in the nighttime haze, the line between sleep and reality is blurred. The boundaries of the vast, incomprehensible world are being groped and pushed apart. Where the «moss bed» beckons with its freshness, like cool sheets. Where lovers confuse each other, intertwine into a living tangle, breathing jealousy, youth, fear and love. The very air is saturated with it, like music, like magic juice, and «both the sea and Homer» move with it and only with it…
