The modern ironic comedy «Exercises in Beauty» introduces us to the secrets of the backstage life of an entreprise troupe of actors performing in provincial theaters with the play «A Treatise on Happiness». The performance is filled not only with funny details of the actor’s life and liberated morals, but also with elements of bold, sometimes bitter confession. The realities of touring life, unexpected circumstances, recognizable situations — the events of the performance are an explosive mixture consisting of hilarious buffoonery and cruel practical jokes, creative showdowns and banquet parties, sincere ardent admiration for each other and envious blows to heightened self-esteem. Two lines are intertwined in the play: everyday, in which the actors appear as they are in life, and creative, when the actors go on stage, and the prose of life recedes before «exercises in beauty.»
