The play «Juno and Avos» is the calling card of the Lenkom Theatre. It was first performed on July 8, 1981 (the official premiere was on October 20, 1981).
Director Mark Zakharov and set designer Oleg Sheintsis staged a completely innovative production for that time, based on the text by Andrei Voznesensky and the music by Alexei Rybnikov. The choreography was created by the renowned dancer and ballet master Vladimir Vasiliev. The play was performed with great success in France and the USA, in Germany and Israel, in Greece and Denmark.
The performers changed, and so did the play itself. For example, at Zakharov’s request, Voznesensky changed a line from the final song: «Children of the twenty‑first century! Your new age has begun.» Today, the number of performances has exceeded 1,900.
The rock opera is called the most poignant love story on the Moscow stage, an anthem to love, courage, and bravery.
