The greatest work, the crowning achievement of medieval literature — Dante Alighieri’s poem, which can only be described using superlatives (grand, titanic, great); the Comedy, which earned the epithet «Divine» from posterity as a sign of recognition of its perfection, is performed in the Fomenko Workshop at arm’s length, in the space of the Old Stage, where the boundaries between the «hall» and the «stage» are условны, and the audience is effectively placed inside the story being performed.
By placing the actors and the audience in a single space, elongated like a Gothic church, the creators of the performance take us back to the times of medieval mysteries, where the biblical story seems to be unfolding before our eyes, being lived out here and now. Here there is Good and Evil, Sin and Repentance, and there are questions to which, as the theatrical action unfolds, all of us — the actors and the audience — seek answers together.
