The main character of the play, Andre, is 80 years old, once upon a time he was a dancer. He lives in Paris with his daughter Anna and her husband Antoine. Or was Andre an engineer whose daughter lives in London with her new boyfriend Pierre? Why is Andre still in his pajamas and can’t find his watch?! There are so many strange things going on around and all these people are behaving so strangely! Anyway, Andre knows for sure that he is still a strong man, and he will find a way to defend his case. After all, he’s not an imbecile, he’s functioning perfectly… isn’t he?!
«Daddy» is a realistic family story that keeps viewers on their toes from the very beginning. Sergey Makovetsky tells the story of a man who is experiencing terrifying changes and is rapidly losing control of his mind. What do you do when your consciousness starts to fail, and the line between the present and fantasy blurs? What should you do if the person closest to you suddenly stops being himself and loses touch with reality?
The play «The Father» gives you a chance to come into contact with a fear that must be familiar to every person — the fear of losing your identity, of forgetting who you really are.
