Alexander Rappoport’s Restaurant of Contemporary Russian Cuisine
The name «Mashenka» wasn’t chosen by chance. It’s a soft, recognizable Russian name and a reference to Vladimir Nabokov’s novel of the same name. This image resonated with the project: it’s not about reproducing the past, but about returning to feelings and tastes that remain vibrant with time.
Chef Igor Grishechkin, one of the key figures in contemporary Russian gastronomy, is responsible for the restaurant’s cuisine. His name is associated with thoughtful work with local and seasonal ingredients, recognizable flavors, and devoid of direct quotations. After many years of working in St. Petersburg and a break closely watched by the gastronomic community, his appearance in the Moscow project is a significant event.
