«Shalyapin» is an elegant grand lobby and bar on the first floor of the Metropol Hotel.
The bar, a successor to Moscow’s first cocktail bar, was designed by Denniston to combine modern details with the hotel’s historic luxury: handcrafted interiors, marble floors, and a glass roof. A daily tea ceremony is served here, and on Thursdays, the piano plays in the lounge. As the weekend approaches, the bar immerses itself in a DJ-inspired atmosphere, and on Sundays, the weekend ends with jazz evenings featuring trumpet, piano, and a vocal trio.
