The Moscow Academic Musical Theatre named after K. S. Stanislavsky and Vl. I. Nemirovich-Danchenko was founded in 1941 when two opera companies founded by the outstanding stage artists Konstantin Sergeyevich Stanislavsky and Vladimir Ivanovich Nemirovich-Danchenko merged.
Today, it is the second largest and most important musical theatre in Moscow (after the Bolshoi).
