The State Tretyakov Gallery has opened a new building on Kadashevskaya Embankment. The new Tretyakov Gallery building features modern exhibition spaces covering over 35,000 square meters, restoration workshops for painting, graphics, and sculpture, and a scientific photo archive. The new building’s open atrium, accessible from the embankment, is a multifunctional public space accessible to visitors.
The Museum Complex includes exhibition halls on the first and third floors, totaling 3,560 square meters, which can be divided into halls with independent entrances for hosting multiple exhibitions simultaneously; two vernissage halls totaling approximately 1,000 square meters; and a multifunctional conference hall with 512 seats for scientific conferences, concerts, film screenings, and other cultural events. A press center with a capacity of 62 people can host press conferences and roundtable discussions.
The complex also houses a souvenir and printed materials shop, ticket office, tour desk, and food service areas. Visitor cloakrooms and restrooms are located in the basement.
The building’s architectural design is particularly noteworthy. The facades of the new Tretyakov Gallery building feature reproductions of 34 works by Russian artists, designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
