The M.N. Ermolova Theater is located in an ancient building, the facade of which is based on one of the largest mansions on the Tverskaya Street, built in the 1830s — Postnikova Passage.
In 1925, graduates of the studio at the Maly Theater under the direction of E. Leshkovskaya, S. Aidarov and N. Kostromsky organized a traveling theater, and they wanted to associate their stage experiences with the name of the great actress Maria Ermolova, for which her blessing was given.
In April 2012, Oleg Menshikov became the artistic director of the Ermolovsky Theater.
New artistic director, new director, new corporate identity, new repertoire. All this is the renovated Moscow Drama Theater named after M.N. Ermolova.
In October 2014, the long-awaited opening of the New Stage took place.
