The Zotov Center is a cultural space that introduces the audience to constructivism — a progressive artistic movement of the 20th century from Russia, which had an impact on all of world art and architecture.
In 1922, constructivists began to practically transform the world around them. Today, a hundred years later, the Zotov Center strives to showcase «living» constructivism, to find new meanings, and to encourage people to engage with avant‑garde ideas.
In its projects, «Zotov» engages contemporary artists, architects, designers, photographers, and young researchers, thanks to which constructivism acquires a relevant sound that is understandable to a modern audience. The existence of the center in a constructivist building allows viewers not just to study the era as a museum phenomenon, but to experience it, becoming participants in the events and co‑authors of the research.
The «Zotov» Center opened in November 2022 and is a cultural project of VTB Bank. The center is located in the building of the former Bread Plant No. 5, which was named after the Soviet Minister of Food Industry, Vasily Zotov. The plant was built in 1931 according to the design of engineer Georgy Marsakov and became the world’s first bread plant with a circular conveyor.
