Revived in 2005 to mark the 80th anniversary of the legendary Maya Plisetskaya, the ballet has since continued its second life on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre. Leading soloists of the Bolshoi Ballet from different generations have wanted to take on the title role, including Galina Stepanenko, Maria Alexandrova, Svetlana Zakharova, Ekaterina Shipulina, Ekaterina Krysanova, and Anna Nikulina. And most likely, this list will continue to grow.
