This aspect of the novel is usually touched upon briefly, superficially, or not at all; this storyline is not as appealing or spectacular, but it makes you think, empathize, and, most importantly, feel compassion. Even if you have rags and stuff them into every crack, compassion lives deep inside a person. It was this unsolved story that the chief director, Alexander Lazarev, chose — the story of Pontius Pilate, who made his decision long ago, on the fourteenth day of the spring month of Nisan.
The main roles will be performed by true masters of the stage: Pontius Pilate — Alexander Baluev and People’s Artist of Russia Maxim Averin, Woland — People’s Artist of Russia Alexander Domogarov. It so happened that both Alexanders and the director Alexander began their careers at the Army Theatre, on this very Great Stage.
