Boris Eifman’s ballet Rodin, Her Eternal Idol, is dedicated to the fate and work of the great sculptors Auguste Rodin and his pupil, lover and muse Camille Claudel.
The story of their passion is tragic. For 15 years, Rodin and Claudel formed one sensual and creative whole. However, the break that occurred between the artists dealt a fatal blow to Camilla’s mental health, and was the beginning of her demise. Half-forgotten, isolated from the world, living in poverty, Claudel goes crazy. The painful idea of a conspiracy directed against her, in which Camille sees Rodin as the main figure, constantly torments the woman’s mentally weakened mind. She was destined to spend 30 years in a mental hospital, where Camille Claudel died in 1943, forgotten and abandoned by everyone.

Using the unique plastic language of modern psychological ballet, Eifman not only presents a new understanding of the world of human passions, masterfully explored by Rodin and Claudel is in their works, but creates a work about the unfathomable mystery of the creative process.
